The snorkel sites we visit depend on ocean conditions on the day of your tour. We access Makole and Nualolo Kai most often — all along the Na Pali Coast.
Nualolo Kai sits on the northwest shore, accessible by boat during the summer season when northwest swells calm. The site has shallow, clear water — 10 to 20 feet in the main snorkel areas.
South-shore sites are more accessible logistically, but the boat traffic at popular spots increases surface chop and affects how close you can get to the reef without contending with other groups.
If Conditions Change: How the Crew Picks an Alternate
Ocean conditions on any given day determine which site is appropriate. If Nualolo Kai is too rough on your tour date, the crew selects a site with comparable conditions.
This decision is made on the water, not in advance. The crew knows the coastline well enough to read which site will give guests — including children — the best time in the water for those specific conditions.
